HAPPY BIRTHDAY OMOLOLU OMOTOSHO

Happy birthday to this young man doing extraordinary things, He is a Barack Obama fellow and founder, Nigerian Saving Nigerians, Omololu Omotosho, the big boss!! Keeep making us proud bro.

God bless you.

CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY - BANKY W

Today is Banky W's birthday. Nigerian R and B artist/ songwriter, Banky W is a co-owner of music label, EME an acronym for Empire Mates Entertainment record label. Banky turned 34 today.

I remember Banky from the 90s, that was way back. He came to my secondary school (Queen's college) with his fellow Home science students to perform at one of our social events. I remember his sister, senior Dolapo Wellington was our social prefect and his voice was AMAZING so everyone in my class started crushing on Bankole Wellington. Lol!!!!

Banky has done very well for himself by starting relevant in the music industry since 2003 when he first released the EP (Extended Play) - Undeniable till date. (An extended play is a musical recording that contains more music than a single, but is usually too short to qualify as a full studio album or LP).

I used to enjoy going through Banky's blog - THE BANK STATEMENTS. I think he is a fantastic writer. He's just probably too busy with his music that he doesn't get to blog that much anymore. Thank God he posted on his blog today and it was so refreshing to read from him.

Banky is responsible for all the good music on my playlist from Strong thing to Lagos party to Low key to Yes/No to Unborn child and a host of other great songs. He keeps his music fresh and timeless by coming up with sensible lyrics and one can tell that he writes his songs by himself and he already has an idea of what he wants his video to look like because his music videos usually tell stories.

Watching Banky performing on stage is usually a great experience for me because he is an artist that gives his all on stage and he also knows how to connect with his fans. I remember when I hosted the Lagos countdown concert and Banky got on stage, the energy was great and he took out time to talk to and connect with the crowd before performing on stage.

Today, we celebrate a Nigerian artist who has not only been a king in the entertainment industry, he is also a king maker by helping young artists under his record label to achieve greatness. Happy birthday Banky. My team and I wish you many more decades of success in good health, love, peace and happiness. Banky's birthday request is for everyone to watch and share his 'Mercy' video on youtube: https://youtu.be/DKgPgwgNEto

CELEBRITY BIRTHDAY - MRS BETTY IRABOR OF GENEVIEVE MAGAZINE

Even though her birthday was some days ago, it's never too late to say happy birthday to one of my role models - Aunty Betty Irabor, MD, Editor in chief of genevieve magazine/ founder, Pink ball foundation. I admire her for so many reasons, partly because of her passion and drive for humanitarian work and of course, because she is a mother and wife who knows how to balance her work life and family life. Not all women get it right in that department however, this woman scores an A*.

Happy birthday aunty betty, my team and I wish you long life in good health, prosperity and all the many blessings from God. You will experience another level of God's grace and favour upon your life. Keep shinning ma. Love you loads,
Ariyike.

NEW VIDEO: DJ XCLUSIVE FT BANKY W AND NIYOLA - TONIGHT

EME is proud to present "Tonight" the banging new video featuring Superstar DJ Xclusive, Banky W & Niyola. The video was directed by Banky W & Adasa... and written & produced by Banky W once again.

The song is the latest single from DJ Xclusive's debut album which is scheduled to be released in May of 2015; it was produced by hitmaker extraordinaire Masterkraft, features DJ Xclusive on the intro & outro, a solid vocal performance by Niyola, as well as Banky W multitasking by singing and rapping.

The story line is a hilarious take on guys that spend a lot of money in the club, and expect something in return from the women they spend it on. Shot in Lagos at Club Quilox, "Tonight" features appearances from Shaydee, Big Mo, Uzzy Tebudiga, DNMT, and last but not least, a hilarious cameo of Banky once again appearing as Aristo W (of "Jasi" fame).

The song is available on iTunes and all digital platforms... and We hope you enjoy watching the video as much as we enjoyed filming it.

PROMO SHOTS - WHY NIGERIAN CELEBS ARE DOING IT!!!!

PROMO SHOTS – WHY NIGERIAN CELEBS ARE DOING IT
Joehanson

It will be erratic to state that you have never come across a promo shot released by a popular celebrity or favorite stars both home and abroad. Regardless of alternating trends of media promotion/PR across the world, (not to say that this method amidst others is equally used abroad) releasing promo shots seems to have hit the bull’s eye in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Ever wondered why celebrities and wannabe some personalities rush to post pictures of a photo shoot as soon as possible? Well, let me take just 2 key reasons for now as well as highlight the boob that comes with it!

- BUILDING A VISIBLE BRAND
Many have pelted this trend of releasing an unnecessary photo shoot by a celebrity with stones and even gone as far as posting comments that are absolutely derogatory! Well, guess what, promo shots help celebrities build brand presence visible to the audience. How? – Just like a sign board or advert posters -  you notice them.
Effortlessly, they make you want to click and see what he or she looks like! As easy as it sounds – the audience click more often and view these released photos’s even when they are not 100% interested.
The celebrity directly registers his or her presence into your subconscious. Another surprise I got recently was to be present at a multinational company when a brand manager simply said – “please check if he or she has promo shots”!
“Mogbe, I quickly reasoned - mehn! I need to release my promo shots too!!!
Yes, brands or companies quickly check google.co.ng to see the actual looks of a certain celebrity or personality for recommendation or scrutiny purposes – to know if he looks good for the job! (I hope this will not move many to launch promo shots by next week)

- STAYING IN COMPETITION
Amidst the cluster of promo shots released regularly, many have dubbed this trend as Staying in competition. This works for personalities who are sort of not doing so much at the moment or hope to make a statement while structuring or being featured on a new project.
Nowadays, you don’t even have to call a top notch photographer or get the best locations! All you need to do is just – snap and release! Unfortunately, most celebs have taken it too far by getting naked or half naked for the promo shots which in turn gets them NO where!
If you have been around the industry, you will know that staying in competition doesn’t really mean – strife, jealousy and envy all the time, but also means – “DO SOMETHING TOO AND BE RELEVANT”!
So a celebrity might want to increase his/her competitiveness by capturing and increasing  more audience/fan base. Mostly, by simply making a statement that says – “I AM STILL HERE OR I AM STILL RELEVANT”.

-THE IRONY
Unlike abroad where promo shots are tied towards a project or gargantuan announcement – Our celebs seem to release promo shots at will even when there is nothing in the offing.

Beyonce released promo shots for her tour and we all know the colossal awareness and followers that it got – a good leverage for PEPSI who enjoyed massive return on investment (ROI).
But.... If brands use promo shots as a yardstick – let the trend continue! Someday the so called PR practitioners will have to cough out a new method to justify for the money being paid just to release that stomach churning headline – “MR B RELEASES NEW PROMO SHOTS”.But in our industry, it’s about making that name first rather than breaking the ice with something very spectacular. Everyone want’s to be relevant, instead of looking for what truly makes them relevant. Releasing promo shots is fast becoming a nag and with time would prove abortive except on the grounds of unveiling something new!

MY BOOK JOURNEY: VISIT TO THE UNITED NATIONS INFORMATION CENTRE (UNIC), LAGOS.

As part of my book journey, my team and i paid a courtesy visit to the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) Lagos. We were given a warm reception and we proceeded to their conference room where we had a meeting.  After the meeting, we proceeded to the library where I donated a few copies of my book.. you'd be able to read as i discovered the UN library is free for anyone who wanted to use it. This was indeed a great discovery for my team and I.  i'm hoping to work with the UN to help them promote their activities so the public can know what they do. Here some pictures from the visit.
